History

Golden originates from the border areas between England and Scotland and has its origins from the end of the 19th century. The breed was developed through line breeding of yellow retrievers and tweed-water spaniels. The result is a dog breed with a great desire to retrieve and work, which is both responsive, intelligent and very friendly.

Appearance, size and weight

Male dogs have a height of 56-61 cm, while bitches have a height at the withers of 51-56 cm. The coat is smooth or wavy with beautiful plumes, and it has a dense water-repellent undercoat. The breed comes in several shades of golden or cream, but not red or mahogany. A few white hairs on the chest are allowed.
