Appearance and temperament

Polish Lowland Sheepdog is a medium-sized and compact dog with long, dense fur that gives it an appealing appearance. It has a lively but restrained nature and is alert, intelligent and willing to learn. The breed is also hardy and tolerates unfavorable climatic conditions well.

Head and facial region

The dog’s head is proportionate and not too heavy. It has thick fur on the forehead, cheeks and lower jaw, which gives the impression of a stronger head than it really is. The muzzle is strong and straight, and the nasal cartilage is as dark as possible and harmonizes with the coat colour. The eyes are medium-sized, oval and hazelnut-coloured with an intense and alert gaze.

Body and movements

Polish Lowland Sheepdog has a rectangular body and well-balanced forelimbs and hindlimbs. The shoulders are broad and muscular, and the middle hand is slightly inclined. The paws are oval, well jointed and have short, dark claws. The dog’s movements are light and ground-winning with a steady walk or trot.

Fur and color

The breed has a dense, coarse and abundant coat with soft undercoat that covers the entire body. The fur can be slightly wavy or straight, and the forehead hair covers the eyes in a characteristic way. Polish Lowland Sheepdog comes in different colors and patterns, and all varieties are allowed.

Size and weight

Male dogs have a withers height of 45-50 cm, while bitches have a withers height of 42-47 cm.
